We are pleased and proud to announce Susan Fidgen has joined the Optimum team as our new Business Development Manager for Atlantic Canada.
Here’s more about Susan in her own words…
What steps in your career led to your new position at Optimum?
I have 20+ years in alternative lending in Atlantic Canada, but my most recent role was actually brokering. It gave me the opportunity to see the other side of the transaction and give me a different perspective. I believe that will experience will truly help me to better serve the brokers I will be working with in this role.
Why did you decide to join the Optimum team?
It is important to me to work with a great team of people, and for a company that understands that with alternative lending there must be common sense underwriting. In my opinion Optimum is the perfect fit!
As the new BDM in Atlantic Canada, what can your brokers look forward to?
I hope to develop great partnerships with the brokers I work with so we can all be successful. The brokers can obviously look forward to exceptional service, but also a resource that they can rely on.
Ten questions in one minute
What is your favourite type of cuisine and why?
Italian! Gooey cheese, garlic, tomato sauce… yum!
If you had a time machine, would you go to the future or the past? How come?
I think I would go into the future. There have been so many changes in the world just in my lifetime; it would be cool to see what else lies in store in the future.
Live on the beach or in the mountains?
Beach for sure. While the mountains are beautiful, there is something about the sand and surf and sun that I absolutely LOVE!
If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
Probably a bird, but it would have to be a tropical one. That way I could fly and see lots of beautiful places, but I will be nice and warm and hopefully close to the beach!
Do you have any hobbies?
Does shopping count? J I love to cook and bake.
What is your favourite travel destination?
Vegas, it’s a special place for me because my husband and I got married there.
What is one skill you wish you had but you don’t?

A trip around the world. There are so many places I would love to see!
What is your personal philosophy?
Life is short; you have to make the most of it!
What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
