Introducing Josie Hettinga

We are pleased and proud to announce that Josie Hettinga has joined the Optimum team as our new Business Development Manager for Southwestern Ontario.

Here’s more about Josie in her own words…

What steps in your career led to your new position at Optimum?

For over three decades, I’ve had a rewarding career in various finance roles including account manager, mortgage agent, financial advisor, and business development manager. Educating clients, advisers, and brokers has always been my passion. Looking at both sides of the asset and liability statement should be part of everyone’s financial plan and I’ve always loved the ‘debt’ and ‘cash flow’ components of the plan, as well as the art of putting a mortgage file together and getting it to the right lender. I understand brokers have clients who are anxious for an approval and not all files fit all lenders’ requirements because I’ve worked as a mortgage agent.

Why did you decide to join the Optimum team?

I see a big opportunity to educate and help grow mortgage brokers’ business in the alternative lending space. With government regulations constantly changing the landscape of lending, I am thrilled to be part of a company that takes a “Sensible Lending” approach to clients who don’t fit the restrictive guidelines of other lenders.

A big draw for me was the strength and integrity of Optimum as part of Canadian Western Bank. Also, I love our team at Optimum. I’ve worked with several of our sales managers in the past and am privileged to be a member of the Optimum team with these industry professionals.

Based on your experience, what do brokers look for in a lender?

Brokers look for education, quick turnaround time, reasonable conditions, a smooth funding process, and fair compensation for their hard work.

As the new BDM in Southwestern Ontario, what can your brokers look forward to?

Meeting me and/or getting reacquainted! We haven’t had a dedicated BDM in the region for a while, and I am looking forward to assisting those brokers that want to learn more about adding Optimum to their lender toolkit.

What is something that your brokers would be surprised to know about you?

I’ve volunteered as a LPGA golf marshal for several years. Using my ‘mom voice’ to say “stand please!” and “quiet please!” is a blast.

Ten questions in one minute
